Bacon and Bling
My mother-in-law lightly coats raw bacon slices with flour to make crispier, tastier strips.
Although we eat little meat, there is simply no way to make old-fashioned fresh green beans like grandma does without bacon. {Edited to add that I CAN make a mean pot of green beans using almond oil and sliced almonds in the same manner as described when we're feeling totally vegetarian but there's really no substitute for Grandma's beans, now is there?} I cook 3 or 4 pieces in the bottom of the stock-pot that I will be using for the beans. Then remove cooked bacon, add raw beans directly to leftover bacon grease, cover and shake, shake, shake every little while to coat all beans and keep from sticking. Keep heat on low but don't remove the top! After about 5-7 minutes the beans will have "steamed" and will be a bright green. Now add water and cook as usual to get the best old-fashioned green beans you've ever tasted. Sprinkle the crisp bacon crumbles on top, if you wish.
Thanksgiving Side Dish night is Bratface's favorite dinner. Tee calls it Turkey Dinner Without the Turkey night; he says it would be his favorite if turkey were involved in more than just the title.
I decided that you just couldn't live another minute of your life without knowing these facts.
Also, I'm going to get my nose pierced tomorrow. I want one of those teeny sparkles of a speck of diamond. I think it'll be cute.
But which side? Is there a correct one? Please confer and report back.

No WAY! I am getting my nose pierced too!
I almost did it last week - but was having my teeth cleaned and didn't want to be freshly pierced and having the hygienist poking around right there. I've got a cavity :(, so I'm doing it after the 19th.
I'm doing it on the left.
I read that in ayurveda it helps with female issues. (PMS begone!) You can google it for several articles.
Can't wait to see it!

I read that too and am definitely taking that into consideration. Who doesn't wish for easier cycles once you're our age?
But I have a flat exposed blood vessel on that side very near the site of the piercing. It's mostly unnoticeable, just a small flat bump. I can't decide if the piercing will draw attention to it or away from it.
Bratface is so jealous (Jefferson says she can when she's 16, I say 15...) but she hollered down from bed that tomorrow morning we're getting out the silver sharpie before she goes to school so that we decide.

i had my nose pierced about 2 years ago. but i only kept it for 2 months because it constantly hurt and oozed and bled and never healed. my dermatologist said some people's bodies reject such piercings but that she could keep me on low-dose antibiotics if i wanted to keep it that bad ... i took it out that day and it healed up. i had been waiting to have it done since i was 16 and couldn't even keep it.

Ye-ouch! Sumgirl, did they do it with a gun or with the long needle? I've read that the gun causes that kind of reaction. But the needle thing I watched on youtube looks more intimidating. And was your's on the right or left? (Still polling.)
Jobie and I have a mother-son bonding date this afternoon. We're going to his favorite tatoo artist (he has 5 now) to get it done with the needle.
